The United States is a powerhouse in golf. In particular, the Texas region is renowned for producing some of the sport's greatest golfers.

This is where legends who once dominated the world of golf were born. Byron Nelson, who achieved 52 career wins on the PGA Tour and was the first to surpass the 50-win milestone, and Ben Hogan, who notched 64 career victories and authored the instructional classic "Five Lessons: The Modern Fundamentals of Golf," were both born in Texas.

World No.1 Scottie Scheffler, who currently dominates the PGA Tour, and "Texas Boy" Jordan Spieth, who has 13 career wins including three majors, both learned golf in Dallas. Angela Stanford (11 wins) and Brittany Lang (2 wins), who have competed on the LPGA Tour, also hail from Texas. The University of Texas, along with Arizona State University and the University of Oklahoma, boasts a powerhouse collegiate golf program.

Players from Texas are expected to achieve even better results. This is because the headquarters of the PGA of America is located there.

The PGA of America is a professional golf organization in the United States, founded in 1916. It consists of about 30,000 members. The organization was established to elevate standards in the golf industry and to increase interest and participation in the sport. The PGA of America headquarters, initially located in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, moved to Frisco, Texas in 2023. The facility features two world-class 18-hole championship golf courses, a state-of-the-art clubhouse, and comprehensive practice facilities.

The PGA Tour, where the top players compete, separated from the PGA of America in 1968 to operate as an independent professional golf tour organization. However, the PGA of America still directly manages several tournaments, including the PGA Championship, Senior PGA Championship, and the KPMG Women's PGA Championship.

The PGA of America hosts more than 30 tournaments for its members and apprentices, including the PGA Professional Championship and the Assistant PGA Professional Championship. It also co-hosts the Ryder Cup, held every two years. This year, the KPMG Women's PGA Championship, an LPGA Tour major, will take place from June 19 to 22 at Fields Ranch East at Frisco, Texas.

The PGA of America is organized into 14 districts and 41 sections. Texas is the 12th district, divided into Northern Texas, Southern Texas, and Sun Country. To become a member of the PGA of America, one must pass the PGA Playing Ability Test. The process includes three stages of education, written exams, simulation tests, and seminars. PGA members receive ongoing education through self-study and the accredited PGA Golf Management University Program.

The website offers various columns and lessons, such as how to start playing golf, the best golf tips for beginners, six secrets to improving your greens-in-regulation rate, and seven reasons to start playing golf in your twenties. The organization arranges systematic lessons for golfers and serves as a bridge connecting local top instructors with players.

The PGA of America emphasizes diversity, equity, and inclusion. In particular, it practices open management. The organization allows LIV Golf players, sponsored by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF), to compete in the Ryder Cup and major tournaments such as the PGA Championship. Brooks Koepka, a LIV Golf member known as a "major hunter," won his fifth major at the 2023 PGA Championship. The PGA of America has included LIV Golf among the nine tours that grant association membership.
