Held at Ulsan Grand Park South Gate Square on the 10th
Hands-on Activities: Kneadable Soap Making and Hand Cleanliness Testing
On May 10, the city of Ulsan will hold a 'Food Safety Day' event under the theme 'Food Safety Together, Healthy Ulsan' at the South Gate Square of Ulsan Grand Park to raise public awareness of food safety.
'Food Safety Day' is observed annually on May 14. It was established in 2002 by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety to highlight the importance of food safety and to increase public awareness about safety. This year marks the 24th anniversary of the event.
On this day, about 60 participants?including staff from district and county children's meal management support centers, consumer food hygiene monitors, and public officials?will operate a children's hygiene and nutrition play zone to promote healthy eating habits among children, as well as a food safety promotion booth.
From 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., three booths will offer a variety of hands-on activities, including hand cleanliness testing with a view box, making colorful vegetable and fruit bracelets, making kneadable soap, decorating eco-friendly vegetable and fruit tote bags, and making fruit face fans.
In addition, a campaign will be conducted to promote the prevention of food poisoning, especially with the onset of the outdoor activity season, focusing on the risks associated with leaving food outdoors for extended periods, as well as the importance of proper food storage, consumption, and personal hygiene.
An official from Ulsan City stated, "Through the Food Safety Day commemorative event, we plan to raise awareness about the importance of food safety and carry out public campaigns to prevent food poisoning in advance of the upcoming summer season."
