Dong-Eui Institute of Technology Clinical Pathology Students Volunteer at Suyeong-gu Senior Welfare Center Parents' Day Event

On May 7, first-year students from the Department of Clinical Pathology at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology (President Kim Youngdo, Department Head Kim Hyeran) participated as volunteers in the 16th Gomsal Hanmaeum Festival, themed "Heehee Nagrak: Mansahyo," held at the Suyeong-gu Senior Welfare Center. They spent meaningful time with local seniors during the event.

This event was organized in celebration of Parents' Day to express gratitude to seniors in the local community and to reflect on the meaning of filial piety. Approximately 400 seniors visited the welfare center for the occasion. On the day of the event, students from the Clinical Pathology Department at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology took on various volunteer roles, including event guidance, assisting with experience booths, and managing safety.

In particular, the blood glucose testing booth at the event attracted significant interest from many seniors. The Clinical Pathology students measured blood glucose levels and explained the results to the seniors, providing basic health management information based on the theory and practical training they had learned at school. Through these efforts, they offered practical medical services that supported the prevention and early management of chronic diseases among seniors.

Jeon Nayoung, a first-year student from the Clinical Pathology Department who participated in the event, shared, "I felt proud to be able to directly measure blood glucose and help improve the health of seniors," and added, "It was a valuable opportunity to rediscover the meaning of learning through volunteer work."
