LG AI Research Institute Relocates to Magok D&O Building, Bringing Together 300 Researchers

Five Floors Dedicated to Collaboration Facilities
"We Aim to Achieve Tangible Results in Next-Generation AI This Year"

LG AI Research Institute has relocated its headquarters to the D&O Building in Magok. The purpose is to bring together approximately 300 researchers, who were previously dispersed between Yeouido Twin Towers and Magok LG Science Park, into one location to enhance research outcomes.

On May 9, LG AI Research Institute announced that it had completed the relocation of its headquarters to the D&O Building in the Magok district. The institute will occupy five floors, from the 3rd to the 7th. Along with the move, more than 50 meeting spaces have been created to enable researchers to collaborate freely.

An LG representative explained, "Because LG AI Research Institute collaborates extensively with affiliates, its members were scattered across locations such as Yeouido and Magok. Now, since we have enough people to gather in one place, we have decided to consolidate the organization."

Having entered its sixth year since its establishment in 2020, LG AI Research Institute has grown into a core organization driving artificial intelligence (AI) innovation. In particular, it introduced the AI model 'Exaone 1.0' in 2021, and after unveiling 'Exaone 3.5' in December last year, it launched 'Exaone Deep,' Korea's first inference AI, in March this year. In addition, 'Chat Exaone,' an enterprise AI agent launched by LG AI Research Institute in December last year, is now used by more than 40,000 LG office employees in Korea?equivalent to half of LG's domestic office workforce.

By bringing its researchers together in one place, LG AI Research Institute is expected to further accelerate its research and development (R&D) efforts. A representative from LG AI Research Institute stated, "Starting this year, our goal is to sequentially achieve tangible results ranging from next-generation AI for implementing agentic AI, to AI that enhances the productivity and efficiency of affiliate companies' operations and manufacturing processes, as well as AI for new material and drug design."
