Hyundai Motor Group announced on May 9 that the Hyundai Ioniq 9 was named "Best 7-Seater Electric Car" and the Kia EV3 was named "Best Crossover Electric Car" at the 2025 TopGear Electric Car Awards, organized by the British automotive magazine TopGear.
The Ioniq 9 is Hyundai's first electrified flagship SUV, equipped with a 110.3kWh battery that delivers the longest single-charge driving range in Hyundai's electric vehicle lineup at 532km. Jack Rix, editor-in-chief of TopGear, emphasized, "The Ioniq 9 is a vehicle with top-tier technology," adding, "Hyundai has once again successfully combined design sensibility with practical ideas."
Ashley Andrew, head of Hyundai Motor UK, stated, "Customer anticipation for the launch of the Ioniq 9 is enormous," and added, "We will continue to expand our electric vehicle lineup, from small crossovers to high-performance vehicles and large SUVs."
The dedicated EV3 model, aimed at popularizing electric vehicles, offers a single-charge range of 375 miles (605km) under the European WLTP standard. It features LED lamps, a 12.3-inch infotainment system, and Kia Connect services, providing best-in-class product competitiveness with a wide range of convenience features.
Ollie Kew, chief road tester at TopGear, commented, "The EV3 impresses with its relaxed driving feel reminiscent of a mid-sized vehicle and outstanding quietness," and added, "Even in challenging conditions, it performed effortlessly, allowing for a deep connection with the car."
Paul Philpott, head of Kia UK, stated, "The EV3 has been named both UK Car of the Year and World Car of the Year," and added, "This achievement once again proves that the EV3 is a vehicle with outstanding product value."
With these awards, Hyundai Motor Group has continued its record of winning eight times at the TopGear Electric Car Awards over the past six years.
Since the Kona Electric was named "Best Small Family Car" in 2020, Hyundai has seen the Ioniq 5 win "Best Design" in 2021, and the retro Grandeur EV concept win "Best Retro Electric Car" in 2022. Last year, the Ioniq 5 N was named "Best Hot Hatch Electric Car," while the Ioniq 5 N's virtual shifting system was recognized as "Best Idea." Kia also saw its EV9 named "Best Sensible Car" last year.
A Hyundai Motor Group representative stated, "This recognition from a globally respected automotive publication demonstrates our technological prowess and product competitiveness," and added, "We will continue to strive to lead the highly competitive electric vehicle market."
