On May 8 (local time), at the Wissahickon Course (par 70) of the Philadelphia Cricket Club in Pennsylvania, United States, Siwoo Kim carded a 5-under-par 65 in the first round of the Truist Championship, a PGA Tour Signature Event with a total prize fund of $20 million. He finished the round tied for 11th place. His performance stood out for its precision, as he collected five birdies without a single bogey. He is now poised not only for his first top-10 finish of the season but also to contend for the title. This tournament features 72 players, and all participants play four rounds with no cut.

Keith Mitchell (USA) surged to the top of the leaderboard with a 9-under-par 61. Mitchell, whose only PGA Tour victory came at the 2019 Honda Classic, recorded nine birdies, including stretches of four consecutive birdies and three consecutive birdies. Denny McCarthy is in second place (8-under-par 62), while Rickie Fowler, Collin Morikawa, Akshay Bhatia (all USA), and Sepp Straka (Austria) are tied for third (7-under-par 63).

Defending champion Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland), aiming to defend his title and secure his fourth win of the season, is tied for 25th (4-under-par 66). Among Korean players, Byeong Hun An started steadily with a 3-under-par 67, tying for 35th place. Sungjae Im posted a 1-under-par 69, finishing the round tied for 55th.
