Gwangju Daycare Center Association Announces Support for Lee Jae Myung

Delegation of 1,671 Members:
"A True Republic of Korea Is Desperately Needed"

The delegation of the Gwangju City Daycare Center Association held a press conference on the afternoon of the 8th at the Citizens Communication Room on the 3rd floor of the Gwangju City Council and officially declared their support for Lee Jae Myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea. A delegation of 1,671 members from the Gwangju City Daycare Center Association held a press conference on the afternoon of May 8, 2025, at the Citizens Communication Room on the 3rd floor of the Gwangju City Council, officially declaring their support for Lee Jae Myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea.

The press conference was attended by over 60 people, including Park Shinae, president of the Gwangju City Daycare Center Association, Jeon Jinsuk, member of the council, Jo Seokho, Gwangju City Council member, and daycare center directors.

The delegation of the Gwangju City Daycare Center Association criticized, "The illegal and unconstitutional declaration of martial law by Yoon Suk Yeol has brought back the pain of the violence and massacre committed by state power in Gwangju in May 1980." They further stated, "What is even more tragic is that conservative forces, without any reflection or apology, are complicit and are once again trying to set back democracy."

They continued, "A true Republic of Korea is desperately needed in order to raise our children properly," and added, "Strengthening the public nature of childcare, guaranteeing the labor rights of childcare workers, and implementing practical policies to relieve parents' childcare burdens are demands of our time that can no longer be postponed."

They also declared, "We firmly condemn Yoon Suk Yeol's act of rebellion, and in order to restore democracy and secure the future of our children, we support candidate Lee Jae Myung." They pledged, "Together with candidate Lee, we will build a just childcare nation and a true Republic of Korea."
