Democratic Party lawmaker Moon Geumju (representing Goheung, Boseong, Jangheung, and Gangjin in South Jeolla Province) conducted the "Listening Tour in Every Alley" on May 7 and 8, visiting local welfare centers and senior community centers to wish the region's elderly residents good health and well-being.

This tour of senior centers was organized in celebration of Parents' Day, aiming to convey respect and gratitude to local seniors and to carefully check on their health as part of efforts to communicate with the community on livelihood issues.

Over the two days, Representative Moon visited the Joseong, Deungnyang, Ungchi, and Hoeryeong senior centers in Boseong County, as well as Hanul Rehabilitation Senior Welfare Center, Jangheung Senior Nursing Home, Sachon Village Senior Festival, Yongsan Eodong Village Senior Center, a meeting with the Gwanseon-eup Senior Association, and a small concert in Hoejin-myeon in Jangheung County. He completed a range of activities from meeting with seniors to volunteering to serve lunch. Representative Moon exchanged opinions about changes in the region, checked on the well-being of the elderly in a warm and friendly atmosphere, and shared words of encouragement.

Meanwhile, the Democratic Party has announced, as part of its 21st presidential election pledges, the implementation of a state responsibility system for senior care, the introduction of a primary care physician system for seniors and vulnerable groups, and the expansion of health insurance coverage for dental implants, as well as the establishment of support systems and infrastructure appropriate for a super-aged society.

Additionally, the party has proposed policies to lay the groundwork for a major transformation in agricultural policy, including the introduction of a basic income for rural areas, expanded support for agricultural disasters and rising production costs, and the enhancement of a social safety net for farming households in line with advanced countries, in order to ensure sustainable agriculture.

In particular, one of the pledges for the 22nd National Assembly election, the "Five-Day Meal Support for Senior Centers" bill, was passed in the National Assembly plenary session, providing a legal basis for expanding meal support in senior centers.

After completing his visits to the senior centers, Representative Moon stated, "For seniors who wish to work, we are considering policies that will provide good jobs, and for those who require national care, we are seeking future-oriented policy measures to ensure public support. Through these efforts, I will do my best to create a society where seniors can enjoy their later years without worry."

Representative Moon also expressed his gratitude, saying, "I thank all the field workers who strive to ensure that the policies proposed in the National Assembly actually benefit our seniors. Going forward, I will continue to support the happy retirement of our seniors and work to create an environment where the dedication and sacrifices of welfare facility workers are fully recognized and rewarded."
