Democratic Party Daejeon City Chapter Launches Presidential Campaign Committee... "We Must Win on June 3"

Resolution: "We Will Write a New History in Daejeon Where the Sovereignty of the People Shines Brightly"

The Democratic Party Daejeon City Chapter held the launch ceremony for its "Real Korea" campaign committee for the 21st presidential election on May 8, officially beginning its activities.

The campaign committee includes individuals with expertise and experience from a wide range of fields, such as academia, religion, civil society, labor, and science and technology.

Park Junghyun, the head of the city chapter, was appointed as the standing campaign committee chairperson. The co-chairs are Park Beomgye, Cho Seungrae, Jang Cheolmin, Jang Jongtae, Park Yonggap, and Hwang Jeonga, all members of the National Assembly, along with Heo Taejeong, former mayor of Daejeon, Kim Yongbok, head of the Daejeon regional headquarters of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, Kim Bongtae, former acting president of ETRI, and Chae Gyesoon, former Daejeon city council member.

In addition, Park Byeongseok, former Speaker of the National Assembly, Song Seokchan and Seon Byeongryeol, former members of the National Assembly, Kim Byeonguk, chairman of the Kim Daejung Memorial Foundation, Park Jaemuk, former head of the Daejeon Sejong Research Institute, and Kim Seongeon, honorary professor at Chungnam National University, have been appointed as standing advisors.

Park Junghyun, the standing campaign committee chairperson, emphasized, "We must win on June 3," and added, "Our victory is not just a victory for the Democratic Party, but a victory for the citizens of Daejeon who sought to defend democracy on the cold streets last winter, as well as a victory for workers and small business owners who have struggled under the Yoon Sukyeol administration."

She continued, "Election campaigns are fought with our voices, hands, and feet," and explained, "With our voices, we must persuade voters why Democratic Party leader Lee Jaemyung is needed; with our hands, we should use KakaoTalk and other means to spread our good policies; and with our feet, we must go out and meet citizens on the ground."

The campaign committee resolved, "The 'Real Korea' we aspire to is a country where the people are the true owners, a nation where justice prevails, and a country of unity that embraces all generations and classes." They added, "Let us sweep away all corruption, injustice, division, and conflict, and write a new history in Daejeon where the sovereignty of the people shines brightly."
