Incheon Mayor Yoo Jeongbok Aims to Achieve 60% Fulfillment Rate of 400 Pledges This Year

On May 8, Incheon City announced its plan to complete 60% of the 400 pledges made by the 8th popularly elected city administration within this year.

By the end of last year, the city had fulfilled 161 out of the 400 pledges, achieving a pledge fulfillment rate of 40.2%. Considering that more than 30% of the pledges under the 8th administration are medium- to long-term projects meant to continue beyond the current term, the city aims to raise the fulfillment rate to 60% by the end of this year.

Major pledges fulfilled so far include the Incheon-type birth policy 'i Plus 100 Million Dream,' the 1,000 won housing for newlywed couples, the implementation of the quasi-public operation system for metropolitan buses, the confirmation of the undergrounding of the Gyeongin Expressway, and the successful attraction of the Overseas Koreans Agency and the High Court to Incheon.

The city has designated 274 pledges, which are scheduled for completion within the 8th administration's term, as key management targets. It has set goals to achieve a fulfillment rate of 48% by next month and 60% by December. To this end, the city will conduct continuous monitoring and intensive consulting, and for projects at risk of delay due to external factors, it plans to adjust schedules or identify alternative projects as countermeasures.

In addition, the city plans to ensure that major pledges such as the construction of the Yeongjong-Ganghwa Peace Road, extension of the Incheon KTX to Incheon International Airport, undergrounding of the Gyeongin Railway and Gyeongin Expressway, implementation of the four-party agreement on the metropolitan landfill site, and relocation of military facilities within the city center are adopted as pledges by candidates in the 21st presidential election.

Shin Seungyeol, Director of Planning and Coordination for Incheon City, said, "We will thoroughly review our execution strategies to raise the pledge fulfillment rate and deliver policy outcomes that citizens can truly feel."
