U.S. Tariff Information Shared and Consultations Provided

KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency) provided an overview of response strategies to U.S. tariff policies for regional export companies.

On May 9, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and KOTRA held a briefing session titled "Changes in the Global Trade Environment and Response Strategies" in Changwon, Gyeongnam, for 60 regional export companies.

This session was organized to help regional exporters address difficulties arising from recent changes in the global trade environment and to systematically support them on current issues such as tariffs. The event focused on providing the latest trade information that can be applied immediately and offering tailored consulting services for each company.

On this day, Chung Ingyo, Deputy Minister for Trade Negotiations at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, delivered a keynote speech on "U.S. Tariff Measures and Response Strategies." He outlined the government's cross-ministerial efforts to support Korean exporters and explained the future direction of trade policy.

The following sessions covered U.S. trade regulatory policies, China's responses, and trends in tariff policies under the new U.S. administration. KOTRA also introduced major consulting cases received through the "Tariff Response 119" service in an easily understandable way for companies. After the session, 1:1 individual consultations were provided to companies that had pre-registered, offering close support to resolve tariff-related challenges.

Kang Sangyeop, Vice President of KOTRA and Head of the SME and Mid-sized Enterprises Division, stated, "Since April 2, we have expanded the Tariff Response 119 Comprehensive Support Center system and are strengthening support through a dedicated call center, an online tariff verification system, and tariff vouchers." He added, "We will comprehensively support companies by providing trade information, identifying alternative markets, and pioneering new markets to minimize the negative impact of U.S. tariff policies on regional exporters."
