"Strengthening Farmers' Capabilities and Increasing Farm Income"
On May 8, the Muju County Government in North Jeolla Province announced that it had conducted an "Apple Seedling Production Technology Training" at the Farmers' Hall of the Muju County Agricultural Technology Center.
This training was organized to strengthen the foundation for self-production of seedlings, enhance the capabilities of farmers, and increase farm income. More than 100 farmers attended the event.
Instructor Woo Byungyong, CEO of Sobaeksan Consulting, shared essential techniques for producing high-quality apple seedlings at the event, including grafting techniques for apple seedlings, environmental management, and methods for preventing diseases and pests.
Shin Sangbeom, Director of the Muju County Agricultural Technology Center, stated, "In order to produce high-quality apples, the quality of the seedlings must be excellent," adding, "This training will not only increase farmers' interest in and the quality of apple seedlings, but will also serve as a driving force to enhance the competitiveness of Muju Firefly Apples and, furthermore, Muju's agriculture as a whole."
The county plans to focus on nurturing professional farmers who will lead agriculture and rural communities. In addition to the "Apple Seedling Production Technology Training," it will also implement customized crop training by season throughout the year, practical training for farmers, an agricultural college, field training for new farmers, and basic farming technology education for new farmers.
