Kim Moonsoo Proposes Second Meeting at 4:30 PM... Han Ducksoo's Side Says "We Will Go Anytime, Anywhere"

Discussion on Unification at Sarangjae in the National Assembly

Kim Moonsoo, the People Power Party presidential candidate, and Han Ducksoo, former Prime Minister and independent preliminary candidate, will hold their second meeting on unification at the National Assembly on May 8.

After attending the Kwanhun Forum held at the Press Center in Jongno, Seoul, Kim told reporters, "We are scheduled to meet (with former Prime Minister Han) today at 4:30 PM."

Kim's campaign later announced to the media, "Yesterday, we contacted candidate Han to propose a meeting today and suggested meeting at a coffee shop," adding, "We propose a one-on-one public meeting with candidate Han at 4:30 PM today at Sarangjae Coffee Shop (Gangbyeon Seojae) in the National Assembly."

Lee Junghyun, spokesperson for former Prime Minister Han, stated, "Candidate Kim changed the meeting time and unilaterally announced the location without any prior contact," but also confirmed their intention to attend the meeting.

In a written briefing, the spokesperson said, "4:00 PM is fine, 4:30 PM is fine, midnight or even dawn is fine. Sarangjae is fine, and anywhere else is also fine. Even if you announce it to reporters without contacting us, that's fine. Even if we only see the breaking news, we will go, anytime and anywhere."

The two candidates held their first meeting on May 7 to discuss unification, but it ended without an agreement. As of this date, there are still differences between the two regarding the timing and method of unification.

Kim proposed that after a week of campaigning by both candidates, a TV debate be held on May 14, followed by a public opinion poll on May 15 and 16, and then the final candidate be selected. On the other hand, former Prime Minister Han declared that if unification is not concluded by the candidate registration deadline on May 11, he will not register as a candidate for this presidential election.
