This event was organized to express gratitude and respect to elders who have shown love and sacrifice for their children. Hosted by the Pohang Junior Chamber, the ceremony was attended by more than 1,000 local elders, as well as heads of major institutions and organizations, making it a great success.

The ceremony began with a pre-event performance by the Gaonnuri Choir, followed by the presentation of commendations to 34 individuals, including exemplary parents, filial children, and contributors to senior welfare.

Notably, this year marked the debut of the 'Intergenerational Empathy Performance,' where children took the stage with their parents to recite poems of gratitude, and three generations sequentially pinned carnations on stage, creating a deeply moving moment.

The performance symbolically expressed the values of respect and communication between generations, drawing applause and empathy from the audience.

In addition, Mayor Lee Kangdeok and other distinguished guests joined children on stage to offer deep bows to the elders, expressing their gratitude. The celebratory performance that followed further heightened the festive atmosphere of the event.

A variety of side events were also held during the ceremony.

The Pohang Senior Club and Pohang Hyeongsan Senior Club promoted job programs for the elderly, while the Nam-gu Health Center conducted campaigns for blood pressure and blood sugar checks, dementia prevention, and tuberculosis prevention.

The Gyeongbuk Eastern Senior Protection Agency raised awareness of the importance of human rights through an elder abuse prevention campaign, and the Pohang City Northern Branch of the Korea Beauty Association provided beauty and grooming services, which were met with great enthusiasm.

Additionally, the Hyosilcheon group operated an experiential play booth that combined games with the practice of filial piety, allowing citizens to naturally reflect on the meaning of filial devotion.

Hong Jeongmin, President of the Pohang Junior Chamber, stated, "I am pleased to participate in this meaningful occasion to reflect on the value of filial piety," and added, "The Pohang Junior Chamber will continue to contribute to spreading the spirit of filial practice."

Mayor Lee Kangdeok said, "The current development of Pohang has been made possible thanks to the dedication and hard work of the parent generation. Remembering their grace and reaffirming our responsibility as a community to live together is the true meaning of Parents' Day. Pohang City will continue to respect parents and build a warm, welfare-oriented city that embraces all generations."
