No Rivals: Fantastic Value Claims Come-From-Behind Victory at the Korean Oaks
One Step Closer to the Throne with Korean Oaks Triumph
Amid a fierce race among domestic three-year-old fillies, 'Fantastic Value,' ridden by jockey Seo Seungun, claimed victory in the 26th Korean Oaks with an overwhelming late surge, moving one step closer to achieving the Triple Tiara for fillies.
The sixth race, the 'Korean Oaks,' was held on May 4 at Korea Racing Authority LetsRun Park Busan Gyeongnam, featuring ten top three-year-old domestic fillies representing both Seoul and Busan, who fiercely competed for the top positions.
At the start of the race, 'Onuldo Smile,' who traveled from Seoul, took the lead and set the pace. 'Fantastic Value' comfortably maintained second position on the outside, followed by 'Catch the Dream' and 'Boryeong Light Queen.'
Despite it being her first challenge at the 1,800-meter distance, 'Onuldo Smile' held the lead until the middle stages. However, as they rounded the fourth corner, 'Fantastic Value' began to accelerate. With 100 meters left to the finish line, 'Fantastic Value' unleashed an explosive final burst to overtake the leader and secured the win by five lengths, claiming the queen's crown.
Jockey Seo Seungun commented, "I focused on a strategic distribution of strength due to some condition issues," and added, "The result showcased the horse's intelligence and concentration." Trainer Lim Geungman, who also trained her sibling 'Fantastic Kingdom,' emphasized, "This victory marks an important turning point on the journey toward the Triple Tiara challenge."
With this win, 'Fantastic Value' has now conquered both the first and second legs of the Triple Tiara series, and will challenge for the Triple Tiara title at the third leg, the 'Gyeonggi Governor's Cup,' scheduled for June 8 at LetsRun Park Seoul. If she succeeds, she will become only the third Triple Tiara winner in history.
On this day, the racetrack was filled with a festive atmosphere as families flocked to the park during the Children's Day holiday.
At LetsRun Park Seoul, interactive events such as magic shows and a 'Find the Hidden Malma' game were held, while in Busan Gyeongnam, giant horse character dolls and popular animation shows captivated children's attention.
