Han Deoksoo Urges Kim Moonsoo to Honor Unification Promise... Says "Lacks Basic Courtesy"

"If You Truly Care About the Nation and Its People, You Must Honor the Promise to Unify"
On Kim Moonsoo's Remarks the Previous Day: "Lacking Even Basic Courtesy"

Han Deoksoo, an independent presidential candidate and former Prime Minister, criticized Kim Moonsoo, the People Power Party's presidential candidate, on the 8th, stating, "A person who does not keep their promise to unify candidacies is committing a great discourtesy and an unacceptable act toward those who care about the nation, the future of Korea, the economy, and the livelihoods of the people."

After visiting the birthplace of former President Park Chunghee in Gumi, Gyeongbuk, on the morning of the 8th, Han told reporters, "If one truly thinks about the country and its people, Kim Moonsoo should keep the promise he made that 'if I become the People Power Party's candidate, I will immediately begin discussions on unifying candidacies with Han Deoksoo.' I want to emphasize that he should honor that commitment."

He continued, "Yesterday, I saw that Kim Moonsoo did not bring any alternatives," adding, "It seems that Kim Moonsoo and his team keep making statements that are not true, so after today's meeting, I will stand before you and clearly inform you of what is not factual."

Han especially added, "I believe that making remarks such as 'I don't know why Han Deoksoo is running for president' is truly lacking even the most basic courtesy."

Previously, after meeting with Han the day before, Kim Moonsoo told reporters, "Who brought out someone who has no intention of registering as a candidate at all?"

Regarding the second meeting with Kim Moonsoo scheduled for 4 p.m. on the same day, Han said, "I had planned to stay in Daegu until the evening, but I will adjust my schedule to attend the 4 p.m. meeting requested by Kim Moonsoo."
