On May 8, the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education announced the list of successful candidates for the first 2025 equivalency exam. A total of 4,658 people took the test, with a pass rate of 85.6%.
The pass rate for the elementary school equivalency test was the highest at 95.2%, followed by the middle school level at 86.7%, and the high school level at 84.0%.
The oldest successful candidates included an individual surnamed Lee, in their 80s, who passed the elementary school test; an individual surnamed Kim, also in their 80s, who passed the middle school test; and another individual surnamed Lee, in their 80s, who passed the high school test.
The youngest successful candidates were Kim Taeo (11), who passed the elementary school test; a girl surnamed Lee, in her teens, who passed the middle school test; and a girl surnamed Kim, also in her teens, who passed the high school test.
At Nambu Correctional Institution, which was designated as a separate test site to help inmates overcome the risk of dropping out, 49 candidates took the test and 43 (87.8%) passed.
A boy surnamed Kang, in his teens, who used the 'mobile equivalency exam service,' also passed the high school equivalency test.
Since 2018, the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education has been operating separate test sites at the homes or welfare centers of applicants with severe disabilities who have difficulty moving. In addition, services such as reading and writing assistance and test guidance were provided to 48 candidates with visual, hearing, or other disabilities, resulting in 28 successful candidates.
Certificates of passing, transcripts, and subject pass certificates can be issued online after the announcement of successful candidates by logging in with a joint authentication certificate (formerly public authentication certificate) on the 'Government24' website. These documents can also be obtained in person at elementary, middle, and high school administrative offices, the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, and the civil service offices of each education support office.
Certificates of passing will be issued in Room 102 of the main building of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education until May 9.
