"Eco-Friendly, High-Value Strategy Pays Off"... Kolon ENP Achieves 12.8 Billion KRW Operating Profit in Q1

Up 22.3% Year-on-Year
High-Value Products with Increased Prices Drive Profitability
"We Will Expand Our Portfolio Despite Uncertainties"

Kolon ENP reported consolidated sales of 123.9 billion KRW and operating profit of 12.8 billion KRW for the first quarter of this year. These figures represent increases of 0.7% and 22.3%, respectively, compared to the same period last year. Despite sluggish conditions in the petrochemical-based materials industry, Kolon ENP has maintained profitability by focusing its portfolio on high-performance products.

Kolon ENP, a company specializing in industrial engineering plastics, announced its first-quarter results on May 8. Engineering plastics are high-performance materials that offer superior mechanical strength and heat resistance compared to general plastics, making them suitable substitutes for metals and glass. The operating profit, up 22.3% year-on-year, marks the highest first-quarter result in the company's history. Kolon ENP attributed this improvement to two main factors: the foreign exchange effect from a weaker Korean won in its polyoxymethylene business, which has a high export ratio, and increased selling prices driven by recovering global demand.

The company also explained that its strategy of targeting high-value customers contributed positively to profitability. In addition, the "compound business" division, which manufactures customized functional plastics for the automotive and electrical/electronics sectors, benefited from robust downstream demand, further boosting results. A Kolon ENP representative stated, "Although uncertainties in the global trade environment are expected to persist, we will focus on expanding our high-value portfolio based on eco-friendly products to achieve sustainable growth and strengthen our global competitiveness."

Meanwhile, Kolon ENP received a "Platinum Rating"?placing it in the top 1%?from the global environmental, social, and governance (ESG) rating agency EcoVadis this year. In March and April, the company participated in "Chinaplas 2025" and the "Automotive Parts Industry ESG and Carbon Neutrality Expo," conducting global customer outreach activities centered on its eco-friendly, high-value product lines.
