Komin Jung Criticizes Lee Nakyon and Han Deoksoo: "A Meeting of a Petty Loser and One Blinded by Power"

"Disheartened by Veteran Politician's Refusal to Follow the Rules"

Komin Jung, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, criticized Lee Nakyon, senior advisor to the New Future Democratic Party, and Han Deoksoo, independent presidential pre-candidate, for agreeing to cooperate in forming a "constitutional amendment alliance." She said, "It is disheartening that Advisor Lee Nakyon is unwilling to follow the rules, rules that even a political novice like myself tries to uphold."

On May 7, Jung expressed her criticism on Facebook, saying, "It is deeply disappointing that a veteran politician who has spent decades in the Democratic Party is unwilling to abide by the rules."

Jung emphasized that the rule to be followed is "an attitude of acceptance." She further explained, "In the context of a competition, it means accepting defeat graciously and applauding the winner."

This is interpreted as a criticism of Advisor Lee, who has continued to show an attitude of not accepting his defeat to Lee Jaemyung in the party primary for the 20th presidential candidate on October 2021. Jung stated, "Insisting that Lee Jaemyung must never win, and even forming an alliance with Han Deoksoo, who represents rebellious forces, appears to be the behavior of a petty loser who refuses to accept defeat."

She continued, "How is this any different from those who refuse to accept election results and claim election fraud? How is it any different from those who attempted to subdue the Democratic Party through martial law?"

Jung also pointed out, "Former Prime Minister Han Deoksoo said he was against martial law. If he truly meant it, he should have fulfilled his duties as acting president to the end."

She added, "That was the only way for a prime minister of a government led by a president who instigated rebellion to sincerely apologize to the people. However, blinded by power, he ultimately made a choice he should not have made." Jung concluded, "The meeting of a petty loser and someone blinded by power. That is why the public does not welcome this."

Meanwhile, on May 6, Advisor Lee and Candidate Han agreed to cooperate in forming a "constitutional amendment alliance." Advisor Lee stated, "In the face of a reality where democracy in the Republic of Korea, and even the national system itself, is under deepening crisis due to the two groups (the Democratic Party of Korea and the People Power Party), Prime Minister Han and I have agreed to work together to seek a new opportunity for hope." He added, "This presidential election is a contest between whether we will become a normal state through constitutional amendment or a monstrous state through legislative overreach. Prime Minister Han and I will work together to restore the Republic of Korea as a normal state through constitutional amendment."

Candidate Han said, "I am deeply grateful that Prime Minister Lee will play an active role and continue to offer advice and effort. Going forward, I will continue to consult with former Prime Minister Lee Nakyon and do my utmost to ensure our success."
