Held for Two Weeks from May 12 to 23... Prizes Awarded for Completion
Enjoy the Beauty of Local Roses During the Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival
Jungnang District (District Mayor Ryu Gyeonggi) is launching a special project to promote residents' health and add vitality to daily life in conjunction with the 17th Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival.
The "Roses in Full Bloom, I Walk Ten Thousand Steps" online walking challenge will be held for two weeks from May 12 to May 23.
This challenge is open to all residents of Jungnang District and consists of two tasks: walking 100,000 steps (with a maximum of 10,000 steps counted per day during the challenge period) and taking a certified photo with roses. Among those who complete both tasks, health-related prizes will be awarded through a drawing. Through walking and photo certification, residents are expected to naturally take care of their health and rediscover local attractions.
This year’s challenge is especially notable as it is linked with the 17th Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival, one of Seoul’s representative spring festivals. The Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival will take place for nine days from May 16 to May 24 around Jungnang Rose Park, featuring the nation’s longest rose tunnel at 5.45 kilometers and a spectacular display of 310,000 rose bushes from 228 varieties. Participants can experience the beauty of nature in the city through the walking challenge and enjoy capturing the charm of Jungnang filled with roses in photographs.
First held in 2009, the Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival celebrates its 17th edition this year, dazzling Jungnang Rose Park every spring and attracting not only residents but also many visitors. Various resident-participation programs, including rose industry-related content, experience booths, and busking performances, are prepared to further enrich community engagement.
To participate in the online walking challenge, install and sign up for the "Walkon" smartphone application, access the "Healthy Jungnang Through Movement" community, and select the challenge mode. For more information, contact the Jungnang District Health Center.
Ryu Gyeonggi, Mayor of Jungnang District, said, "As we welcome May, a perfect season for walking, I hope all residents will take care of their health and enjoy the beauty of Jungnang through the 'Roses in Full Bloom, I Walk Ten Thousand Steps' challenge," adding, "With the Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival fully prepared again this year, I hope everyone enjoys a happy spring day with much interest and participation."
