The Korea Water Resources Corporation announced on May 8 that it will improve the transportation infrastructure of Busan Eco Delta City, which is currently being developed in Gangseo-gu, Busan.
On this day, the corporation stated that it had signed a business agreement with the Busan Metropolitan Government and Gangseo-gu at the Busan Eco Delta City Observatory in Gangseo-gu, Busan. The agreement is aimed at resolving initial transportation inconveniences for new residents of Eco Delta City and promoting urban formation by supporting public transportation projects in new towns. Busan Eco Delta City is a new city under construction in Gangseo-gu, Busan, with the goal of becoming a self-sufficient waterfront city that is both water-friendly and ecological. The project is being jointly developed by the Korea Water Resources Corporation, which holds a stake, and the Busan Urban Corporation.
Although Busan Eco Delta City began accepting residents in the first half of last year and is expected to welcome a total of 15,000 people by the end of this year, there have been limitations in basic infrastructure and transportation conditions. In response, the Korea Water Resources Corporation has sought solutions by entering into a strategic agreement with the Busan Metropolitan Government to alleviate resident inconveniences and improve living conditions. As a result, starting this year and over the next five years, a total of six new buses will be introduced, and the bus interval will be reduced from 35-40 minutes to 20-25 minutes. All vehicles will be eco-friendly electric buses.
Yoon Seokdae, President of the Korea Water Resources Corporation, said, "With this agreement, we will proactively resolve initial transportation infrastructure issues for new residents and actively support the project so that it can drive regional economic growth."
