Kwon Urges Kim to Unify with Han
"Kim Must Keep His Promise of Swift Unification"
Candidate Registration Deadline Approaching on the 11th... Only a Few Days Left
Kwon Seongdong, floor leader of the People Power Party, has begun a hunger strike, urging Kim Moonsoo, the party's presidential candidate, to swiftly unify with Han Ducksoo, the independent preliminary candidate.
At the members' meeting held at the National Assembly on the afternoon of the 7th, Floor Leader Kwon stated, "Today's meeting between the two candidates ended without any results," and added, "Considering that the candidate registration deadline is on the 11th, today was the last possible moment to minimize confusion in the election process." He continued, "During the primary, Candidate Kim promised a swift unification," emphasizing, "Many of our party's lawmakers also declared their support based on this promise." Furthermore, he added, "A politician?especially one aspiring to the highest office?must always keep such an important promise."

Floor Leader Kwon said, "We have a historic and contemporary duty to prevent the rise to power of the Lee Jaemyung faction," and stressed, "We must reorganize our ranks through swift unification." He then declared, "Starting today, I am beginning a hunger strike," explaining, "It is because I feel a sense of desperation that I cannot back down any further."
He repeatedly urged Candidate Kim, stating, "There can be no victory without unification," and called on him to make a decision now.
