The Keimyung University Press (President: Shin Ilhee) announced on May 7 that it has published "The Secret to Healthy Longevity: A Guidebook for Living Beyond 100" (Bit-eul Yeoneun Chaekbang), translated by Professor Shin Chaegi of the Department of Painting at Keimyung University College of Fine Arts. This book is a translation of "Secrets to Living to 100 and Beyond," authored by world-renowned medical scientist Dr. Jaeho Kim. It offers scientific insights and practical health management strategies for readers living in the era of population aging.
Dr. Jaeho Kim (MD, PhD, FACR) is an Honorary Professor of Radiation Oncology at Henry Ford Hospital in Michigan, USA. He is a leading scholar in the field of radiation oncology, having served for over 25 years at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, one of the world’s top cancer research institutions, and has published more than 300 papers. He led research on the relationship between radiation damage and cellular aging and headed the U.S. government’s biomedical project, the Center for Medical Countermeasures against Radiation (CMCR).
In the preface, Dr. Kim emphasized that "the real challenge is not just living longer, but creating a healthy and productive old age," highlighting the importance of practical guidelines for healthy aging. The book is structured to make complex medical information easily understandable to the general reader, including topics such as alleviating chronic inflammation, strategies to suppress cellular aging, and health habits that can be practiced in daily life. It also contains philosophical reflections.
Professor Shin Chaegi stated, "Dr. Jaeho Kim’s original work is a unique piece that connects scientific approaches to aging with the dignity of life," adding, "It provides insights on how to lead a dignified and meaningful old age in an aging society."
This publication was further enhanced by the medical consultation and content review of Professor Kim Jinhee from the Department of Radiation Oncology at Keimyung University Dongsan Hospital, which added to its professionalism and credibility. The cover design was handled by Professor Lim Heonwoo from the Department of Visual Design at Keimyung University College of Fine Arts, increasing its visual completeness.
