in Jinhae Advanced Industrial Research Complex
Sign Coexistence Agreement
On May 7, the Jinhae District Office of Changwon Special City in South Gyeongsang Province signed a coexistence agreement aimed at revitalizing the local economy with Jinhae Jungang Market, the Jinhae Small Business Association, and six public institutions located within the Jinhae Advanced Industrial Research Complex.
Jinhae District Office Advanced Technology Department and Traditional Market Promise Coexistence in Jinhae.
The six public institutions participating in the agreement are the Korea Institute of Materials Science, the Korea Research Institute of Ship and Ocean Engineering, the Changwon Industry Promotion Agency, the Agency for Defense Development, the Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute, and Gyeongnam Technopark. These participating organizations plan to actively use Jinhae Jungang Market when purchasing goods and will also encourage their employees to utilize the market, thereby providing practical support for revitalizing the local commercial district.
In response, Jinhae Jungang Market and the Jinhae Small Business Association plan to continuously pursue improvements to the market environment and provide ongoing training for merchants, establishing a foundation to offer higher-quality products and services. Through these efforts, they aim to increase customer satisfaction and enhance the competitiveness of the traditional market.
This agreement is expected to serve as a practical boost for the local traditional market, which has been facing difficulties due to the expansion of large retail chains and online shopping.
In particular, efforts will be made to expand the number of participating institutions and to identify and implement actionable tasks even after the agreement, so that it can become a sustainable cooperation model between public institutions and private traditional markets.
Jung Hyunseop, head of the Jinhae District Office, stated, "This coexistence agreement is a meaningful starting point created together by public institutions and the local commercial district," adding, "We will do our utmost to enable the local economy to take off again by revitalizing the traditional market."
