The Gwangju and Jeonnam political circles have unanimously welcomed the decision by the Seoul High Court panel handling Democratic Party presidential candidate Lee Jae Myung's violation of the Public Official Election Act case to postpone the first trial, originally scheduled for May 15, to June 18, after the presidential election. The issue of responsibility for Supreme Court Chief Justice Cho Hee Dae has also resurfaced.

On May 7, Representative Jung Jinwook (Gwangju Dongnam-gap) wrote on his Facebook page, "The postponement of the High Court trial to June 18 is a result of the people's resistance and the voices of conscientious judges within the judiciary. It is a strategic victory for the Democratic Party leadership. I will fight to the end for Cho Hee Dae's resignation and for the postponement of other trials."

Representative Min Hyungbae (Gwangju Gwangsan-eul) also stated, "The retrial has been postponed to June 18. This is a victory for the sovereign citizens. It is the result of blocking the final desperate attempts of legal tyrants on the streets and in the public squares over the past seven days."

He continued, "However, Cho Hee Dae cannot escape overall responsibility for this judicial coup. He must step down immediately."

Representative Lee Gaeho (Damyang, Hampyeong, Yeonggwang, Jangseong in Jeonnam) also commented, "Although the postponement of the High Court trial is only natural, it is still fortunate. The president is elected by the people, never by the courts."

Representative Kim Won-i (Mokpo) said, "Our people have won. We have stopped Cho Hee Dae's judicial coup targeting candidate Lee Jae Myung. The Seoul High Court trial, which was set for the 15th, has been postponed to June 18. Please give overwhelming support to candidate Lee Jae Myung for the establishment of a democratic government and the end of insurrection."

Representative Joo Cheolhyeon (Yeosu-gap in Jeonnam) stated, "The president is not chosen by judges, prosecutors, or appointed officials, but is elected by the sovereign people. It seems the court has finally realized this truth, albeit belatedly."
