"Cannot Help but Question Whether This Is Persuasive to the Public"
Jongsun Park, a Daejeon City Council member (Yuseong-gu 1), announced his departure from the People Power Party, criticizing the process of unifying the presidential candidacies of Moonsoo Kim and Deoksoo Han.
On the morning of May 7, Park held a press conference at the City Council press room and stated, "Both Moonsoo Kim and Deoksoo Han, who are currently attempting to unify their candidacies within the People Power Party, were central figures who either aided or abetted rebellion." He made these remarks in reference to the ongoing unification efforts.
He went on to say, "If one of these candidates is to be selected as the next presidential candidate, I must first question whether this decision can truly be persuasive to the public," adding, "Frankly, it's something so absurd that even a passing cow would laugh."
He continued, "Both individuals are unfit to carry the ticket for an early presidential election," and pointed out, "As a party member, I cannot help but deplore the People Power Party's idea of selecting one of these two as its presidential candidate."
Park stated, "As a matter of political conscience, I cannot remain in the People Power Party and participate in the presidential race," and added, "With no other alternative, I have decided to leave the People Power Party, where I have served for 14 years."
