The Beopseongpo Danoje Preservation Association announced on May 7 that it had successfully held the Nanjangteugi public event, marking the beginning of the '2025 Yeonggwang Beopseongpo Danoje,' at Buyonggyo Bridge in Supjaengi Park and the Beopseongpo New Town Culture Plaza area on May 2.

Local residents and tourists participated in the event, demonstrating a strong interest in traditional culture.

The Yeonggwang Beopseongpo Danoje has continued the tradition of announcing the official start of the festival through Nanjangteugi every year on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month.

This ceremony originated from a time when communication methods were not developed; peddlers from across the country would see the Nanjanggi installed in Beopseongpo and recognize the start of the Dano festival. Today, it has become a historical symbol of Beopseongpo.

This year's Nanjangteugi event reaffirmed its cultural and traditional value by installing a circular Nanjanggi at Buyonggyo Bridge in Supjaengi Park, which has been designated as National Scenic Site No. 22.

In addition, in front of the Beopseongpo Reclamation Culture Plaza, the event venue, flags of local organizations and five-colored cloths were connected, creating a meaningful scene that expressed wishes for safety, a bountiful harvest, and abundant fishing, as well as hopes for community unity and the success of the Danoje festival.

Han Yugyeong, president of the Beopseongpo Danoje Preservation Association, stated, "Nanjangteugi is more than a simple ceremony; it is the culmination of traditional culture, embodying the wisdom and communal spirit of our ancestors. We will continue to develop this as a traditional cultural festival that local residents and tourists can enjoy together."

Meanwhile, the main '2025 Yeonggwang Beopseongpo Danoje' will be held for four days from May 29 to June 1 at the Beopseongpo Danoje Training Center and the Beopseongpo Reclamation Culture Plaza, under the theme "500 Years of Festivity Remembered by Light and Wind."
