Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province announced on May 7 that it has been selected as an 'Outstanding' institution in the '2025 Local Tax Delinquency Management Comprehensive Evaluation for Cities and Counties' organized by Gyeonggi Province.
This evaluation was conducted on the overall local tax delinquency management of 31 cities and counties within the province for the previous year. The cities and counties were divided into five groups according to the amount of carried-over local tax delinquencies and the number of delinquent taxpayers. The evaluation was then conducted in three areas?delinquency resolution, enforcement of delinquency measures, and implementation of delinquency collection policies?across 28 items.
This year, Hwaseong City was classified in Group 1 along with Suwon, Yongin, and Goyang, and was selected as an 'Outstanding' institution, securing an institutional commendation as well as a prize of 40 million won.
The city explained that it received high marks for actively pursuing various delinquency collection activities, including prompt and diverse securing of claims, strong administrative sanctions, public auction of seized properties (real estate and vehicles), seizure of license plates from delinquent vehicles, investigation of violation cases, and searches of business premises of delinquent corporations.
Song Moonho, Director of the Hwaseong City Finance Bureau, stated, "We will continue to secure stable local finances and foster a sound tax payment culture through systematic delinquency management and fair tax administration."
