TIGER US S&P500 ETF Surpasses 1 Trillion KRW in Cumulative Net Purchases by Individuals This Year

Achieving No.1 Among All Domestic ETFs
The "Korean Version of VOO" Optimized for Long-Term Investment in the Leading US Index by Korean Investors

Mirae Asset Global Investments announced on May 7 that the 'TIGER US S&P500 ETF' has surpassed 1 trillion KRW in cumulative net purchases by individual investors this year. This is the largest scale among all ETFs listed in Korea. By exceeding 1 trillion KRW in net purchases by individuals, it once again proved itself to be the "most beloved US investment ETF among Koreans."

According to the Korea Exchange, as of May 2, the cumulative net purchases by individuals in the 'TIGER US S&P500 ETF' since the beginning of the year amounted to 1.05 trillion KRW. With rapid inflows over approximately four months, it has become the ETF most favored by individual investors this year. As the US stock market has experienced sharp fluctuations this year, investors appear to have responded to volatility by choosing the more stable strategy of investing in the S&P500 index rather than thematic products.

This pace is even faster than last year, when US stock investments were extremely popular. Last year, the 'TIGER US S&P500 ETF' surpassed 1 trillion KRW in cumulative net purchases by individuals on August 1, 2024, meaning this milestone was reached about three months earlier this year.

With the choice of individual investors, the 'TIGER US S&P500 ETF' is solidifying its position as the largest US benchmark index ETF in Asia. As of May 2, its net assets stood at approximately 7.7 trillion KRW, making it the largest S&P500 index-tracking ETF listed in Asia. As the Korean counterpart to the world's largest ETF listed in the US, the 'Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO)', domestic investors can easily and conveniently invest in the leading US index, which is another advantage.

The 'TIGER US S&P500 ETF' is also more advantageous for long-term investment due to its low actual costs. According to the Korea Financial Investment Association, as of the end of March, the TER (total expense ratio, including all fees and other costs) of the 'TIGER US S&P500 ETF' was 0.0768%. Including trading and brokerage commissions (0.0456%), the actual cost burden for investors is 0.1224%, which is the lowest among US S&P500 ETFs listed in Korea.

Kim Namho, Head of Global ETF Management at Mirae Asset Global Investments, stated, "As the US stock market has shown high volatility this year, investors seem to have chosen the TIGER S&P500 ETF as a response. Through investing in the TIGER US S&P500 ETF, investors can enjoy the industry's lowest actual costs and secure an optimal solution for long-term investment."
