Soonchunhyang University Cheonan Hospital announced on May 7 that it has opened its new hospital building and officially begun full-scale operations.
The new hospital, located right next to the existing facility, is a 15-story building above ground with 5 basement levels and a capacity of 1,000 beds. The site covers 45,300 square meters, with a total building area of 136,192 square meters. Parking is available for 1,039 vehicles, and a helipad has been installed on the roof for emergency patient transport.
The new hospital has also introduced two radiotherapy machines for cancer treatment, a hybrid operating room, the latest imaging diagnostic equipment, and nuclear medicine diagnostic devices.
Notably, the hospital has adopted, for the first time in Korea, an automated blood test system module that enables rapid and accurate testing of large volumes of samples.
To protect the golden hour for critically ill emergency patients, the hospital has been designed with a vertical circulation route, allowing patients to move from the helipad to the emergency room, dedicated inpatient rooms, diagnostic labs, and operating rooms via dedicated elevators.
In addition, to minimize cross-infection, the movement routes of patients and medical staff have been separated. The hospital is also equipped with a comprehensive infection control system, including specially designed negative pressure isolation rooms, single-patient isolation structures, and negative pressure operating rooms.
Hospital Director Lee Moonsoo stated, "The opening of the new hospital will be a turning point that dramatically improves the quality of medical care in the region," adding, "Our hospital will become a new center of advanced medicine."
Seo Kyooil, Chairman of the Dong-eun Academy Foundation, also commented, "While staying true to our essence, we have made groundbreaking improvements to our systems and services," and added, "Soonchunhyang will help young people realize their dreams and drive regional growth, repaying the trust and love we have received."
