Incheon City Offers Free Wedding Venues and Financial Support for 40 Engaged Couples

Incheon City has launched practical support measures to ease the financial burden of preparing for marriage and to promote a new wedding culture.

On May 7, the city announced that it will officially implement the 'i Plus Maeo Dream' project to create an environment where anyone can get married within their budget.

First, the city plans to provide 40 engaged couples with free access to 15 public facilities within the region to use as wedding venues, along with financial support of 1 million won for wedding expenses. Previously, free venue rentals were limited to city hall and district office auditoriums, but this time, popular locations among young people such as Harbor Park Hotel, Art Center Incheon, Sangsang Platform Square, and Songdo Waterside Park have also been included.

The city will also sign an agreement with wedding service providers to comply with the 'Incheon-style Standard Pricing for Wedding Services.' Essential items such as dresses, studios, and makeup will be provided at transparent and reasonable prices, categorized into practical, basic, and premium packages. This aims to eliminate concerns about unclear estimates or unexpected additional costs and to help couples plan their wedding within their budget.

In addition, the selected 40 engaged couples will receive benefits such as a 50% discount on the Wolmi Sea Train on weekdays and discounted comprehensive health checkups at Naeun Hospital.

Applications have been accepted on a first-come, first-served basis since April 28. If at least one member of the engaged couple is an Incheon citizen, they can apply through the QR code provided on the Incheon City Hall or Gyeyang-gu Family Center website.

An Incheon City official stated, "The i Plus Maeo Dream project is a practical response to address the low birth rate issue," and added, "We will continue to develop various customized policies to help alleviate the economic burden, which is one of the main reasons people hesitate to get married."
