Applications Accepted Until June 10
Approximately 10 Projects Selected Annually
The government and private companies are jointly launching a call for proposals for the private sector initiative of the Knowledge Sharing Program (KSP), which supports overseas expansion through public-private cooperation.
The Ministry of Economy and Finance and KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency) announced on May 7 that they have been accepting proposals for the private sector initiative of the Knowledge Sharing Program (KSP), which aims to support the economic and social development of partner countries, from April 11 to June 10.
The KSP private sector initiative is a new cooperation model in which private companies and institutions directly identify and propose overseas projects. Approximately 10 projects are selected and implemented annually. The Ministry of Economy and Finance first introduced this initiative in 2022, and it has since become established as a way to address various challenges faced by partner countries while supporting the overseas expansion of Korean companies.
On April 29, at the "2025 Global New Trade Forum" held at COEX, KOTRA presented its "Strategy for Entering the Global South Using KSP." The session introduced the KSP private sector proposal system and highlighted successful cases of overseas expansion achieved through this program.
For example, the modernization of district heating in Uzbekistan and the establishment of a wastewater treatment system in Vientiane, Laos, were cited as representative cases in which Korean companies addressed local government challenges and shared Korean technology and development experience through KSP. The introduction of a 5G private network (P5G) in the Basque Country, Spain, and the development of aviation technology infrastructure in Peru were also highlighted as key examples that played an important role in the local expansion of Korean companies.
In addition, on-site one-on-one consultations were provided to help Korean companies resolve questions regarding proposal writing methods and evaluation criteria. Detailed information on how to participate in the KSP private sector initiative can be found on the KOTRA or KSP websites.
Lee Ji-hyung, Executive Vice President for Economic and Trade Cooperation at KOTRA, stated, "This year, the KSP private sector initiative will focus more on the willingness of partner countries to participate and the potential for follow-up projects. We hope that private sector-led proposals will serve as an opportunity to expand the outstanding technologies of Korean companies to the world."
