"Will Resign as Emergency Response Committee Chairman if Unification Fails Within Deadline"
People Power Party Emergency Response Committee Chairman Kwon Youngse emphasized to presidential candidate Kim Moonsoo on the 6th, "We elected you based on the promise of unification," and added, "If you betray that trust now, people will no longer believe in our party or our candidate."
He also announced that on the 7th, the party would survey its members to ask their opinions on whether to support unification.

At the party members' meeting held at the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul that afternoon, Chairman Kwon stated, "There are two principles that are absolutely clear: we must unify with candidate Han Deoksoo, and this must be accomplished by the 11th."
Chairman Kwon said, "The Republic of Korea is standing on the edge of a cliff right now. If we can prevent the rise to power of the Lee Jaemyung faction, everyone must join forces in this desperate situation. If we fail to achieve unification, we will all become criminals in the eyes of history."
He went on to say, "I hope candidate Kim Moonsoo remembers the promises he made himself," and emphasized, "a firm promise to achieve unification, a promise to meet with candidate Han Deoksoo first?we elected you based on those promises."
Chairman Kwon stated, "Our candidate must be clearly different from Lee Jaemyung. We must set aside everything we have now and unite with the sole goal of winning the presidential election. We must not lose sight of the greater cause for the sake of minor interests. Unification must be achieved at all costs."
Chairman Kwon said that on the 7th, the party would conduct a survey of its members regarding support for unification, adding, "I will listen to your opinions and take the necessary steps accordingly."
He continued, "If we fail to achieve unification within the target timeframe, I will take responsibility and resign as Emergency Response Committee Chairman. Even if we succeed, if that is your will, I have no reason to continue as chairman."
He pointed out, "Those who are seeking party leadership or nomination rights are negative about unification. If we lose this presidential election, the party will be dismantled. In that case, what meaning do nomination rights or party leadership have?"
Chairman Kwon added, "At a time when becoming a 'one team' would not be enough, engaging in self-destructive attacks on the party only helps Lee Jaemyung."
