The Culture and Welfare Committee of Andong City Council, Gyeongbuk, is taking swift action to help revive the local tourism industry, which has recently been dampened by wildfires.


On May 2, the committee conducted field-oriented legislative activities by visiting major cultural and tourism facilities in Andong City, inspecting their operations, and discussing possible improvements.

On this day, the committee visited key tourism hub facilities, including the Tourism Hub Center, Eommakkatouri Campground, Imagination Playground, and Jeokto Pium. They listened to explanations of major issues from relevant departments and explored possible response measures.


At the first stop, the Tourism Hub Center, the committee checked the content operation methods, visitor convenience facilities, and promotional strategies. The members emphasized the need for customized marketing and the development of regional linkage programs to help restore tourism demand that has been weakened by the wildfires.


Next, at Eommakkatouri Campground and Imagination Playground, the committee members focused on discussing the establishment of a safety management system to attract family tourists, diversifying programs, and ways to enhance content quality.


At Jeokto Pium, they reviewed the overall operational status and exchanged various opinions with officials regarding future facility improvements.


Chairman Kwon Kiyun stated, "To restore the local tourism industry, it is essential not only to ensure safety and build trust, but also to preserve the region's unique cultural content." He added, "We will continue to engage in hands-on legislative activities, listening to citizens' voices on site and reflecting them in our policies."
