Jeollanam-do dispatched a market development team to Jakarta, Indonesia, last April to expand the global market for its energy industry. Through export consultations, the province secured export bases and strengthened the foundation for technological cooperation, including signing an export contract worth $50,000.
The "2025 Energy-Focused Indonesia Market Development Team," jointly operated by Jeollanam-do and the Gwangju-Jeonnam branch of KOTRA, participated in "Solartech Indonesia 2025," the largest energy exhibition in Southeast Asia specializing in the energy sector.
At this event, 10 energy companies from Jeollanam-do held 172 consultations with 118 local buyers and signed an export memorandum of understanding worth $50,000.
The participating companies included Kyunghyang Industry Co., Ltd. (foamed insulation), DMT Co., Ltd. (expansion joints), BK Energy Co., Ltd. (floating solar power and hydrogen generators), SWICO Jingwang Co., Ltd. (gas/epoxy insulated circuit breakers), Korea Grid Forming Co., Ltd. (high-speed electromagnetic transient simulators and grid-forming inverters), MTS Co., Ltd. (industrial valves), Eugene Techno Co., Ltd. (high- and low-voltage cables and underground facilities), ELT Co., Ltd. (mobile PV-ESS power systems), Turbine Crew Co., Ltd. (smart poles and drone wireless charging systems), and TDL Co., Ltd. (all-solid-state batteries).
On site, DMT signed an export memorandum of understanding worth $50,000 for expansion joints and discussed technological cooperation. BK Energy entered into a technological cooperation memorandum of understanding (MOU) with a local company, securing a foundation for joint projects. Eugene Techno opened up possibilities for supplying cables through the supply network of Indonesia's state-owned electricity company (PLN), while ELT is currently conducting a demonstration project for mobile power supply devices (PV-ESS) in the Sulawesi Utara region.
Turbine Crew was requested to give a technical presentation by the state-owned construction company Wijaya Karya (WIKA) and engineering firm SMEC, while TDL is working to expand its electric two-wheeler battery pack market through its local subsidiary. MTS is in discussions with local companies regarding technology transfer and production, and Korea Grid Forming is working with the state-owned electricity company to demonstrate grid-forming inverter technology.
The participating companies also confirmed the potential for mutual cooperation based on related products and technologies, such as floating solar power, smart poles, power cables, and high-speed electromagnetic transient simulators.
Jeollanam-do and KOTRA provided support for airfare, exhibition item transportation, interpretation, and vehicles. On the day before the exhibition, they held a seminar on trends in Indonesia's renewable energy market and a meeting with buyers to enhance the companies' understanding of the local market.
The Indonesian government aims to increase the share of renewable energy to 23% by 2025 and add 4.68 GW of solar power generation capacity by 2030. As the government has also approved the installation of 5,746 MW of rooftop solar power from 2024 to 2028, there were active discussions at the exhibition regarding the expansion of solar manufacturing and investment.
Meanwhile, Jeollanam-do has established a diverse clean energy industry base, including offshore wind power, hydrogen, solar power, and energy storage systems. As the nation's largest producer of renewable energy, the province is actively pursuing carbon neutrality and striving to become a national energy hub.
