Support for Basic Livelihood Security Recipients Aged 65 and Older
Year-Round Vaccinations at Designated Medical Institutions
Yangcheon District in Seoul is offering free shingles vaccinations to basic livelihood security recipients aged 65 and older. Eligible recipients are those who have been registered residents of Yangcheon District for at least one year and are basic livelihood security recipients aged 65 or older (born on or before December 31, 1960) who actually reside in the district.
Individuals with a previous history of shingles infection may receive the vaccination 6 to 12 months after recovery. However, those who have previously been vaccinated or are immunocompromised are excluded from eligibility.
The free vaccination program will continue throughout the year until vaccine supplies are exhausted. Eligible individuals should bring their ID card, certificate of basic livelihood security recipient status, and a copy of their resident registration to one of the 100 designated medical institutions in the district that provide shingles vaccinations. Lee Gijae, Mayor of Yangcheon District, stated, "As we enter an era of super-aging, maintaining a healthy later life has become increasingly important. I hope this vaccination program will help vulnerable seniors manage their health." He added, "We will continue to implement various support measures to promote residents' health and reduce the burden of medical expenses."
