On May 6, CJ Logistics announced that it had signed a strategic partnership with Nakheel Express in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on April 30 (local time) to realize delivery services in the Middle East. The event was attended by key management from both companies, including Jang Youngho, Head of IFS Division at CJ Logistics, and Adnan Al Mazroua, Vice President of Nakheel Express.
Through this partnership, CJ Logistics has laid the foundation to provide delivery services throughout the Middle East. Nakheel operates approximately 5,000 locations and 84 delivery hubs across Saudi Arabia, and offers delivery services in major Middle Eastern countries such as the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, and Kuwait. The company also provides year-round customs clearance services connected to major international airports in Saudi Arabia, including Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam, as well as cold chain logistics based on Saudi Food and Drug Authority-certified warehouses.
CJ Logistics expects to serve as a bridge for Korean companies entering the Middle East. K-beauty products are recognized by local consumers as trendy and highly reliable, while K-fashion is also gaining a stronger presence, further highlighting the importance of logistics partnerships between the two regions. The e-commerce market in the Middle East is recording double-digit annual growth rates.
The Saudi GDC, established in the Riyadh Integrated Logistics Zone near King Khalid International Airport, is expected to energize the company’s Middle East logistics operations. The Saudi GDC is a large-scale fulfillment center with a total floor area of 18,000 square meters and a daily processing capacity of 15,000 boxes. It functions as a forward base and hub for Middle East e-commerce logistics, handling storage, inventory management, packaging, and shipping to nearby areas in an integrated manner. CJ Logistics plans to sequentially apply advanced automated logistics technologies specialized for e-commerce logistics and to begin full-scale operations in the second half of the year.
Jang Youngho, Head of IFS Division at CJ Logistics, stated, "With the Saudi GDC, which features its own customs clearance facilities and fulfillment capabilities, now in pilot operation and a local delivery partnership secured, we have established a complete logistics operation system for the Middle East. Based on our unrivaled forwarding capabilities and advanced logistics technology, we will fully launch our Middle East e-commerce logistics business and continue to expand our global logistics footprint."
