The Democratic Party criticized the People Power Party's announcement, made just one day after selecting former Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Moonsoo as its presidential candidate, that it would form a unification task force with former Prime Minister Han Deoksu, an independent candidate, calling it "nothing more than a collusion between far-right forces and insurrectionist elements."

Park Kyungmi, spokesperson for the Democratic Party's Central Election Committee, stated in a written briefing on the morning of the 5th, "Such collusion is in no way something that should be expected by the people."
Spokesperson Park added, "Their unification only confirms the need for a complete end to insurrection, and marks the beginning of a prolonged tug-of-war and mudslinging," and further explained, "The hybrid created by their collusion will be 'Yoon Sukyeol Season 2' and will lead to the overthrow of constitutional order and democracy."
She also emphasized, "Above all, if they collude to seize power, it is certain that they will shield Yoon Sukyeol from criminal accountability," adding, "We cannot allow the ringleader of the insurrection to evade judgment and for insurrectionist forces to run rampant again."
The previous day, Shin Dongwook, chief spokesperson for the People Power Party, told reporters after an election committee meeting, "We will quickly establish a unification task force within the committee between candidate Kim and former Prime Minister Han, and will negotiate related issues through this body."
However, regarding the timing of the task force's launch, he said, "We will do it as soon as possible," but also noted, "Since there is another party involved (former Prime Minister Han), we cannot set a specific date."
