May Donghaeng Festival Officially Opens in Sejong

Over 30,000 Citizens from Daejeon and Sejong Visit in Three Days

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced that on May 3, it held the opening ceremony of the "May Donghaeng Festival" at Sejong Central Park, attended by citizens from the Daejeon and Sejong regions.


With this, the Donghaeng Festival, which will be held nationwide for a month until May 30, has begun. At Sejong Central Park, an opening sales exhibition prepared by small business owners took place from May 2 to May 4.

The opening ceremony began with a powerful children's song performance by the Sejong Children's Choir "Sejong Little Singers." A glow ball lighting ceremony was held, symbolizing the hope that small purchases will come together to provide great support to small business owners, uniting the stage and the audience. The "Win-Win Receipt Concert" saw participation from so many citizens that all 2,000 seats were filled.


In her opening remarks, Minister Oh Youngjoo stated, "The products of our SMEs and small business owners participating in this Donghaeng Festival are proud products that can confidently compete in global markets." She added, "We will spare no effort to ensure that the Donghaeng Festival helps widely promote these products and expand their sales channels."


Before attending the opening ceremony, Minister Oh, together with Lee Chunghwan, President of the Korea Merchant Association, visited the "Jochiwon Jeontonggil Alley-type Shopping District," the first alley-type shopping district in the old downtown area of Sejong. There, she inspected the operation of the shopping district and listened to feedback from the field.
