Damyang County Successfully Holds Residents' Day... "A Venue for Pride and Unity" Jeong Cheolwon, the mayor of Damyang County, is delivering a commemorative speech at the '46th Damyang County Residents' Day' event held on the main stage of the Bamboo Festival on the 3rd. Provided by Damyang County

Damyang County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Jeong Cheolwon) announced on the 4th that it held the 46th Damyang County Residents' Day commemorative event on the main stage of the Damyang Bamboo Festival on the 3rd, pledging a new leap toward the future of Damyang together with its residents.


This year's Residents' Day event focused on recognizing those who have contributed to regional development and on inspiring the honor and pride of county residents, under the themes of 'establishing residents' identity' and 'creating a venue for communication and harmony.'


More than 1,000 people, including Governor Jeong Cheolwon, National Assembly members, provincial and county council members, local residents, and tourists, attended the event, which was held in conjunction with the Damyang Bamboo Festival. The program included a pre-ceremony performance, a reading of the Residents' Charter, the presentation of the County Residents' Award and Honorary County Resident Certificates, a commemorative speech by the governor, congratulatory remarks from guests, and a group singing of the county residents' song.


At the commemorative ceremony, the County Residents' Award and Honorary County Resident Certificates were presented to those who have devoted themselves to the development of Damyang. The County Residents' Award was given to Park Youngdon, President of the Damyang County branch of the Korean Senior Citizens Association, in the field of social welfare; Kim Wontak, Executive Director of the Damyang County Gateball Association, in the field of sports promotion; and Yang Namgeun, President of the Subuk Agricultural Cooperative, in the field of industrial economy. Jo Mija, Senior Vice President of the Gwangju-Jeonnam City and Provincial Women's Association, received a special award.


In addition, the Honorary County Resident Certificate was awarded to Kim Hyein, Damyang County's rural community lawyer, and Park Dain, Manager of the Agricultural Policy Support Team at the Damyang County branch of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, in recognition of their contributions to the development of the local community and administration.


In his commemorative speech, Governor Jeong Cheolwon emphasized, "Each and every one of our residents is the protagonist who has shaped Damyang as it is today," and added, "We will continue to build a happy Damyang together with our residents, based on transparent and fair administration."
