Scholarships to Support Students from Low-Income and Multicultural Families
Bodamsa Temple donated 20 million won to Uichang-gu, Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, in celebration of Buddha's Birthday.
The donation, which was made on May 2, has been deposited into the Hope Plus+ account, a dedicated fundraising account for Uichang-gu. It will be provided as scholarships to 15 low-income and multicultural families with elementary, middle, or high school students.
Chief monk Musim Beopseong stated, "I hope that children will continue to grow resiliently without losing hope, even in difficult circumstances, and that the warm heart of Buddha will be conveyed to them." He added, "We will continue to practice sharing to support the development of the local community and to help our neighbors."
An Jemun, head of the Uichang-gu Office, expressed gratitude by saying, "I would like to express my deep thanks to Bodamsa Temple for always caring for those in need." He continued, "We will ensure that the compassion of the chief monk and the temple's followers is widely delivered throughout the Uichang-gu community by properly distributing the donated funds."
Meanwhile, since 2017, Bodamsa Temple has donated cash and goods every year, contributing a total of about 280 million won to Uichang-gu to support underprivileged groups in the area. In addition, the temple has promoted various support projects, such as providing side dish services and assisting with home repairs for vulnerable households, thereby contributing to the spread of a culture of sharing in the local community.
