On May 4, Kim is scheduled to visit the Seoul National Cemetery in Dongjak District, Seoul, to pay respects at the graves of former presidents Syngman Rhee, Park Chunghee, Kim Youngsam, and Kim Daejung.
After declaring his presidential bid on April 9, Kim's first official activity was also a visit to the National Cemetery, where he paid respects at the graves of all former presidents. In particular, his visit to the grave of former President Kim Daejung is seen as an effort to deliver a message of unity.
After visiting the cemetery, Kim will attend the party's emergency committee meeting, where he will meet with acting chair Kwon Youngse, floor leader Kwon Seongdong, and other party leaders. He is expected to discuss future election strategies, including the possibility of unifying candidacies with independent candidate Han Ducksoo.
In the afternoon, Kim will visit Jangja Village in Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province, where people affected by Hansen's disease reside, followed by a visit to Jeil Market in Uijeongbu. These visits are intended to highlight his commitment to welfare for the underprivileged and revitalizing the people's livelihood economy, which he has consistently emphasized.
Meanwhile, with his final selection as the People Power Party's presidential candidate, the second-largest party in the National Assembly, Kim will now receive prime minister-level security protection. Presidential candidates from major parties are provided with police security at the same level as the prime minister, the National Assembly speaker, the chief justice of the Supreme Court, and the president of the Constitutional Court.
