Awards and Exhibition at the "Korean Peninsula Grand Festival"
Mapo-gu (District Mayor Park Kangsu) is hosting the "Mapo-gu Peace and Unification Drawing Contest" to help young people develop interest in and sensitivity toward peaceful unification.
The contest theme is "Peace and Unification," with a free topic format. Participants are encouraged to freely express their ideas through drawings sized 4-cut or 8-cut paper, depicting, for example, "the image of peaceful unification we hope for" or "scenes embodying expectations and hopes for the realization of peaceful unification."
Any elementary, middle, or high school student nationwide may participate. The application period is open until May 14. Submissions can be delivered in person to the Administrative Support Division on the 9th floor of Mapo-gu Office or sent by mail.
Awards will be given in two categories: elementary and middle/high school. In each category, one Grand Prize, one Excellence Award, and one Merit Award will be selected, for a total of six winners.
This contest is held in conjunction with the "2025 Mapo-gu Korean Peninsula Grand Festival," which will take place on June 7 in the Hongdae Red Road area. The award ceremony for the selected works will be held on the day of the festival, and the winning pieces will be exhibited at Red Road R5.
For details such as required documents, please refer to the notices section on the Mapo-gu Office website or contact the Administrative Support Division.
Park Kangsu, Mayor of Mapo-gu, stated, "Each child's artwork contains their wishes and hopes for peace and unification. I hope the messages conveyed through these drawings will resonate with many people and serve as a foundation for building a consensus on unification."
Meanwhile, the "Mapo-gu Korean Peninsula Grand Festival" will be held on June 7 in the Red Road R5~R6 area, featuring a variety of events including cultural performances wishing for unification and hands-on booths about peace and unification.
