Osan City Finalizes Second Supplementary Budget at 974.9 Billion Won, Up by 84.2 Billion Won

Previously, Osan City had set its main budget for this year at 888.3 billion won, then increased it by 2.37 billion won through the first supplementary budget, and has now further expanded it by an additional 84.2 billion won with this latest adjustment.

The city explained that the focus of this supplementary budget is on laying the foundation for a self-sufficient Connect City with a population of 500,000, specifically prioritizing the revitalization of transportation, enhancement of the city's brand value, construction of public facilities, and improvement of citizen welfare.

Lee Gwonjae, Mayor of Osan, stated, "Based on the newly allocated supplementary budget, we will accelerate the city's development and the improvement of citizen welfare."

This supplementary budget includes 25 billion won allocated for the purchase of the Segyo 1 Terminal site. The city plans to acquire this long-abandoned site near Sema Station from Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) and pursue an urban development project, aiming to establish it as a landmark for the northern Osan area.

The budget also includes 5.5 billion won for the Serang-dong public parking lot, which is part of the Serang Reservoir development project, and 2.7 billion won for the construction of the Eunbit Stream Park No. 1 and No. 2 public parking lots. Additionally, 9 billion won has been allocated to cover increased costs for the construction of a connecting road between Yangsan-dong and National Route 1. The budget for various road maintenance projects has also been increased by 5 billion won.

The supplementary budget further covers cultural and recreational projects, including 2.05 billion won (including city matching funds) for the Dolmen Park landscape lighting project, 100 million won for the "OH! Happy Rose Light Festival," and 30 million won in accommodation support for recreational facilities in the natural recreation forest of Osan's sister city, Jangsu County in North Jeolla Province.

The city also secured funding for public office buildings through the supplementary budget, including 400 million won for construction supervision of the Sinjang 2-dong new government office, 5.8 billion won for the purchase of a temporary government office for Daewon 2-dong, 760 million won for relocating the Namchon-dong community center, and 1.4 billion won for relocating the Cheonghak Library.

In the welfare sector, the supplementary budget includes funding for the Youth Challenge Support Project and elementary school entrance congratulatory grants. The Youth Challenge Support Project is designed to assist young people aged 18 to 34 who have given up on job searching, those preparing for self-reliance, and youths entering or leaving youth facilities.
