Chosun University College of Medicine announced on May 2 that it had held a joint memorial service for body donors for the 2025 academic year.
The memorial service, held on April 30 in the Hanmaeum Hall of the College of Medicine, was organized to express gratitude for the noble intentions of the 15 deceased individuals who donated their bodies for medical education between April 2023 and April 2024, as well as their families.
More than 130 people attended the memorial service, including the donors' families, Dean Ahn Youngjun of the College of Medicine, professors and students from both the College of Medicine and the College of Dentistry.
The event, hosted by Professor Choi Seok of the College of Medicine, proceeded in the following order: a moment of silent tribute, a memorial address by Dean Ahn Youngjun, a lecture on the significance of body donation and the memorial service by Professor Jung Yunyeong of the Department of Anatomy, presentation of plaques of appreciation, reading of letters to the sky by the bereaved families, reading of memorial essays by student representatives from the College of Medicine and the College of Dentistry, a choral performance of a memorial song by the students, and a group flower offering.
In his memorial address, Dean Ahn Youngjun stated, "We are deeply grateful for the noble decision to bring new hope to neighbors suffering from illness," and added, "We will never forget this noble intention and will devote ourselves to guiding our students to become upright physicians."
