Expansion of Multi-family Housing Support Scope
Establishment of Post-subsidy Management Provisions
Gwangju Seo-gu Council has initiated the revision of an ordinance to improve the residential environment for residents of multi-family housing.
Seo-gu Council announced on May 2 that during its 330th extraordinary session, the “Full Amendment Ordinance for the Support of Multi-family Housing in Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City,” proposed by Council Member Kwangrok Oh (representing Gwangcheon-dong, Yudeok-dong, Chipyeong-dong, Sangmu 1-dong, and Dongcheon-dong), was approved with amendments by the relevant standing committee.
The purpose of this amendment is to specify the types of support necessary for the management of multi-family housing and to address institutional shortcomings, thereby creating a safer and more pleasant residential environment.
The main points include the introduction of a “Definitions” article to ensure consistency of terminology, and the explicit stipulation of management and supervision obligations for post-subsidy management. In addition, new provisions were introduced to the composition of the Multi-family Housing Support Deliberation Committee, including regulations on the proportion of civilian members and restrictions on consecutive terms, in order to strengthen transparency and independence. The amendment also includes revisions to the evaluation criteria, distinguishing between quantitative and qualitative evaluation standards and establishing criteria for additional or deducted points, with the aim of enhancing fairness and equity in project reviews.
Oh stated, “We aimed to strengthen the institutional foundation so that residents of multi-family housing can enjoy a safer and more convenient life,” and added, “We hope that this amendment will enhance the transparency and credibility of support projects for multi-family housing.”
