Ulju County, led by County Governor Lee Soongeol, has officially opened the 'Ulju County Central Comprehensive Welfare Town,' an integrated welfare and cultural space for residents in the central region.
On May 2, Ulju County held an opening ceremony for the Central Comprehensive Welfare Town in Guyoung-ri, Beomseo-eup, Ulju County, and began full-scale operations. This facility is a multifunctional complex equipped with welfare, cultural, educational, employment, and leisure functions, playing a pivotal role in improving the quality of life for local residents.
The Central Comprehensive Welfare Town was constructed with a total project cost of 48.45 billion won, and consists of two basement levels and five above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 15,464 square meters. After completing the basic and detailed designs in April 2022, construction began the same year and was completed in February of this year.
The interior of the building is designed as a user-centered, customized space. The first and second basement floors house the Ulju County Youth Center, a screen park golf course, and an underground parking lot, enhancing leisure opportunities for young people and residents. The first floor above ground features a billiard hall, a table tennis room, and a Go room, serving as leisure spaces for seniors and people with disabilities.
In addition, there are community spaces and cafes that anyone can freely use, as well as other convenience facilities. The Ulju Welfare Foundation and the Ulju Artificial Intelligence Center are also located in the building, making it a future-oriented welfare space where welfare administration and advanced technology converge.
The second and third floors are dedicated to senior and disabled welfare centers and a dedicated cinema (Ulju Cinema), which will offer a variety of cultural content to residents through three screening rooms. The fourth and fifth floors provide program rooms and a large auditorium for seniors and people with disabilities, serving as spaces for education and events.
Lee Soongeol, Governor of Ulju County, stated, "The Central Comprehensive Welfare Town is a hub where welfare and culture converge in Ulju County, and it is an open space for all?from youth to seniors?to enjoy together. We will actively operate it so that it can become a central pillar of public welfare in the region."
