Park Jiwon, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, expressed his anger over the Supreme Court's decision to remand the case of Lee Jae Myung, the party's presidential candidate, regarding his violation of the Public Official Election Act.
On the 1st, Park stated on his social networking service (SNS), "The Supreme Court's ruling on candidate Lee Jae Myung is a verdict that most people did not expect," and added, "I will do everything I can to prove his innocence through a fierce legal battle at the High Court. This ruling will only unite our supporters even more."
Previously, Park Jiwon had commented that the Supreme Court would inevitably confirm Lee's acquittal and that, under no circumstances, would there be a remand for retrial.
On April 24, Park appeared on KBC's 'Yeouido Guest Seat' and said, "There are even suspicions about whether there is some kind of sinister scheme behind the Supreme Court Chief Justice exercising his authority to bring Lee's case before the full bench and proceeding with unusual speed," and continued, "About three weeks ago, according to a well-informed source, I heard that the original acquittal would be confirmed. That is what I know."
When the People Power Party took issue with Park's remarks and announced a press conference, Park responded, "I never make broadcasts or predictions based on intuition. I thoroughly investigate and only convey public common sense and sentiment," and added, "It seems Lee Jae Myung's innocence is certain."

However, after the Supreme Court's remand decision, Park shared his opinion once again through another post. He stated, "Will May 1, Labor Day, be recorded as the most turbulent day in modern Korean history?" and added, "The resistance of the main forces behind the insurrection is sky-high. They are doing everything possible to destroy candidate Lee Jae Myung."
He continued, "DJ (former President Kim Dae Jung) was persecuted as a communist but ultimately triumphed and is now regarded as the most successful president," and added, "JM (Lee Jae Myung, the Democratic Party's presidential candidate) is constantly being targeted by those who claim he cannot be trusted, yet his public support has surpassed 50%. The president is chosen by the people, not by the forces of insurrection."
