Development of Waterfront Complex under Rapid Integrated Planning in 26 Ssangmun-dong, Dobong-gu

Development as a Waterfront-Friendly Complex Linked to Banghakcheon Stream
Located Near Banghakcheon Stream, Covering 39,500 Square Meters

The area around 26 Ssangmun-dong, Dobong-gu, has been selected as a candidate site for the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Rapid Integrated Planning Urban Redevelopment Project.

This area covers 39,500 square meters, with Banghakcheon Stream bordering the north and Balbadak Park located to the west. Considering the overall need for local development, it is regarded as a favorable location for project implementation.

Going forward, the area will undergo the establishment of an urban redevelopment maintenance plan and a designation service for the maintenance zone. The final decision on the Rapid Integrated Planning will be made in consultation with the Seoul Metropolitan Government.

Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced that the area around 26 Ssangmun-dong was selected as a candidate site at the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Rapid Integrated Planning Urban Redevelopment Project Candidate Site Selection Committee held on April 28, 2025.

This area, now selected as a candidate site, was previously proposed by residents in 2023 as a candidate for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s Urban Public Housing Complex Project, but was not selected at that time.

Subsequently, residents shifted to the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Rapid Integrated Planning, making it possible to pursue redevelopment after about two years.

As the area has now been selected as a candidate site for the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Rapid Integrated Planning, residents’ reactions have been positive. This is because the procedures have been simplified, and there is more public support at each stage.

Previously, the resident consent rate was about 30% in 2023, but this time it has risen by about 20 percentage points to reach 51%.

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, stated, "The area around 26 Ssangmun-dong is planned to become a waterfront-friendly complex connected to Banghakcheon Stream. We expect it to become an open complex where local residents can enjoy culture, relaxation, and leisure."
