Yeongdeungpo District (District Mayor Choi Hokwon) announced that it will hold a commemorative ceremony to express gratitude to senior citizens on Parents' Day, which falls on May 8, 2025, at the exhibition hall on the second floor of Yeongdeungpo Art Hall.
This event is organized by the 'Yeongdeungpo Integrated Care Network,' which consists of seven local organizations that provide and support customized care services for the elderly. The theme of the event is 'Healthy Filial Piety, Happy Filial Piety.' It aims to allow the local community to collectively repay the kindness of senior citizens and to promote a culture of respect and reverence for elders.
The event will begin with a pre-performance by the Sori-sae Ocarina Team from the 'Yeongdeungpo 50 Plus Center,' followed by an opening ceremony and congratulatory remarks, the presentation of awards for exemplary filial conduct, the screening of a video expressing gratitude for parental grace, the presentation of carnations, and a congratulatory performance, among other activities.
In particular, 28 residents who have practiced filial piety and contributed to the development of senior welfare will receive the 'Filial Piety Award.' Additionally, carnations expressing gratitude will be presented to all senior citizens attending the event.
Choi Hokwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District, stated, "As May, the Month of Family, begins with Parents' Day, we wish to express our respect and gratitude to our elders. I hope that a warm culture of respect for elders will continue to spread throughout the community."
